Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail
The Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail seeks to protect the trail for future generations. We want residents of King George County and surrounding communities to enjoy access to biking, hiking, running, skiing, and other non-motorized activities while preserving the natural beauty and rich history along the trail. We aim for the trail to become acquired by the Virginia State Parks system to ensure its legacy while also working to connect the trail to local, regional, and national trail and greenway networks.

The Friends of the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit group of volunteers who work to develop, preserve, and maintain the historic rail-to-trail greenway as a major recreational, tourism, and educational opportunity for the citizens of King George County and the state of Virginia. They work to ensure that this linear trail, designated as a National Recreation Trail and an important segment of the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail, is preserved in perpetuity for future generations under the protection of the Virginia State Park System.
