Dahlgren Half Marathon: February 20, 2021

The course is organized by our friends at Arsenal Events and is an out and back that starts at the Bloomsbury Road Trailhead and heads east from the start for ~6.5 miles before turning back. The volunteers from Friends of the Dahlgren Rail Heritage Trail do an excellent job of ensuring that the trail is in peak shape for the race! For 2021 there will be both an in-person and virtual race option. Learn more...

Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run, March 13, 2021

A fun and unique running challenge, the Sheetz-to-Sheetz Trail Run is an untimed, 14-mile point-to-point run in rural King George, Virginia, benefiting local children in need. It starts at a Sheetz convenience store in the heart of the county, meanders through farmland and forest, and ends at another Sheetz store in the town of Dahlgren. The vast majority of the course is along the secluded Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail. Shuttle buses are provided to transport runners from the finish line back to the designated start line parking area. For 2021, there is both an in-person and virtual option. Register early because this event sells out fast! Learn more...

Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail 50K/Half Marathon: August 7, 2021

The race is run entirely on the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail which is a converted railroad bed and provides solid footing with little or no roots. This trail is flat, smooth, and fast with a variety of surfaces ranging from dirt, gravel, grass, and pine needles. The course is an out and back that starts at the Bloomsbury Road Trailhead and heads east from the start for ~6.5 miles before turning back.  The volunteers from Friends of the Dahlgren Rail Heritage Trail do an excellent job of ensuring that the trail is in peak shape for the race! The trees along the trail ensure almost 100% shade during the run. Register and learn more...
